Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová has been awarded a wild-card entry for this year’s tournament.

LONDON — Two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitová will return to the All-England Club this summer after receiving one of the tournament’s coveted wild cards on Wednesday.

The Czech star, champion in 2011 and 2014, has not competed at Wimbledon since 2023. She missed last year’s event while welcoming the birth of her first child, a son born during the fortnight.

Kvitová resumed her WTA career in February in Austin, Texas, ending a 17-month absence from competition, and now holds a ranking of No. 572.

She is the only non-British player among the eight women granted direct entry into the main draw via wild card. The other spots went to Britons Heather Watson, Harriet Dart, Jodie Burrage, and four additional home players.

On the men’s side, seven Britons—including Dan Evans—have secured wild cards, with organizers noting that one place remains to be allocated “in due course.”
