Trump calls for the cancellation of Netanyahu’s corruption proceedings.

U.S. President Donald Trump urged Israel on Wednesday to halt Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s long-running corruption case, posting his demand on his Truth Social account.

Trump wrote that he was “shocked” Israel was “still pursuing its ridiculous Witch Hunt against their great wartime Prime Minister,” echoing the term he often uses for his own legal battles in the United States.

Calling Netanyahu a “warrior,” Trump dismissed the charges as a “Horror Show” driven by politics and involving “cigars, a Bugs Bunny doll, and other absurd accusations.” He insisted the proceedings should be “CANCELLED, IMMEDIATELY” or that Israel should grant “a pardon to a great hero who has done so much for the State.”

“The United States of America once saved Israel, and now it will save Bibi Netanyahu. This travesty of ‘justice’ cannot be allowed,” Trump wrote.

Netanyahu’s trial—Israel’s first criminal prosecution of a sitting prime minister—has dragged on for more than five years. He faces counts of fraud, breach of trust and bribery tied to allegations that, as communications minister, he granted regulatory favors to telecom giant Bezeq and accepted luxury gifts from wealthy associates. Netanyahu denies wrongdoing and says he is the target of a political vendetta.

Trump’s intervention comes while he himself carries a felony record: a New York jury convicted him on 34 counts of falsifying business records. Two federal cases—one related to the January 6 Capitol riot and another to classified documents—were dismissed when he took office in 2025. A fourth case in Georgia, alleging interference in the state’s 2020 election results, remains pending without a trial date.
