“Total disaster” Trump criticizes Musk

“Total disaster”: Trump criticizes Musk after the billionaire reveals plans for a new political party.

Trump Blasts Musk Over New Political Party Plans

President Donald Trump has criticized Elon Musk after the tech billionaire revealed plans to launch a new political party. The announcement came in the wake of Musk’s vocal opposition to Trump’s flagship legislative package.

“I am saddened to see Elon Musk going completely off the rails, turning himself into a total train wreck over the past five weeks,” Trump posted on social media on July 6. “Now he’s talking about starting a third political party, even though such parties have never succeeded in America.”

Musk Forms “America Party” After Slamming Trump’s Bill

On July 5, Musk introduced the “America Party,” just one day after Trump signed his controversial mega-bill into law. The legislation, projected by the Congressional Budget Office to raise the national debt by $3.4 trillion, has been a key target of Musk’s criticism.

“When it comes to bankrupting our nation with waste and corruption, we live under a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk declared on his platform X. “The America Party is being formed today to return freedom to the people.”

Trump Warns Against Third Parties

In his response, Trump dismissed Musk’s political ambitions, warning that third parties historically only bring “disruption and chaos.” He added, “We already have enough chaos from the Radical Left Democrats.”

A Growing Rift Between Trump and Musk

Musk, currently worth $405 billion according to Forbes, previously donated nearly $290 million to support Trump and Republican candidates. Early in Trump’s presidency, Musk spearheaded efforts to streamline federal agencies as head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

However, tensions between the two men have escalated in recent weeks as Musk became a fierce critic of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.” The legislation includes sweeping tax cuts, a $5 trillion increase to the debt ceiling, and major spending changes, including cuts to Medicaid and expanded funding for border enforcement and defense.

Musk Threatens Political Retaliation

Musk has vowed to challenge GOP lawmakers who backed the bill, threatening to bankroll primary opponents. “Any member of Congress who promised to cut spending and then voted for the largest debt increase in U.S. history should be ashamed,” Musk said before Trump signed the measure. “If it’s the last thing I do, they’ll lose their primaries next year.”

A Tumultuous Relationship

The feud between Trump and Musk comes despite earlier attempts at reconciliation. Musk reportedly apologized for harsh comments made during his dramatic exit from Trump’s administration a month ago.

His decision to create a new political party is a reversal from statements made in May, where he suggested he would step back from political spending to focus on Tesla and SpaceX.
